Modular Drills — Full Specifications
Spade Drill System — Overview
Indexable spade drilling, Ø14.0–30.0mm, available in 3xD and 5xD depths.
Galtona's Modular Drills range is an indexable spade drill system (DSCD series) covering Ø14.0mm to Ø30.0mm in both 3xD and 5xD depths, with an interchangeable insert (Spade.GTPP450) clamped via a Torx Plus screw. The system is built around a single, precise insert seat — the same insert dimensions and clamping-screw sizes are shared across both depth ranges at each diameter.

Applications
| Application | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Stack drilling | Ensure either no gap or the maximum possible gap between stacked plates. Good workpiece clamping is required. |
| Drilling into solid material | Possible. |
| Drilling on inclined surfaces | For angled surfaces <3°, reduce feed by approx. 50%. For an angled drill entrance >3°, prior spot facing is required. |
Assembly of the indexable insert
- Loosen the clamping screw anti-clockwise using a Torx Plus screwdriver (screwdriver not included in the scope of supply).
- Remove the indexable insert from the insert seat.
- Clean the insert seat and screw thread with compressed air.
- Insert the new indexable insert in the insert seat.
- Insert the clamping screw from the correct side and tighten clockwise with the specified torque. Observe the change interval of the clamping screw.
