Heavy-duty turning inserts
Carbide inserts for heavy turning and roughing (HDT) — TCH, HD2, HD5 and HD8 chip grooves plus a dedicated titanium range.
Galtona's HDT range extends the Negative Size Turning program for demanding, heavy-duty turning — from medium roughing up to full interrupted-cut capability.
Four dedicated chip grooves scale with depth of cut: TCH (2.5–10 mm), HD2 (1.5–12 mm, new sharp positive geometry for high-strength steels), HD5 (2–12 mm), and HD8 (2.5–12 mm, rated for consistent, inconsistent, *and* interrupted cuts).
The 909+ groove adds medium-and-roughing coverage across CNMG, SNMG, and TNMG shapes plus RCMT round inserts, in GTCP125, GTCP135, and cast-iron-specific GTCK120 grades.
Also includes a dedicated turning-titanium range ("S15") with IPE+ chipbreaker geometry across CNMG, DNMG, SNMG, TNMG, VNMG, and WNMG insert shapes.
HD2 — new sharp positive chipbreaker
HD2 Chip Groove — New Chipbreaker
Single-sided roughing geometry, sharp positive cutting edges, for steels with high strength (800 N/mm²).
Example: CNMM 120408-HD2. Depth of cut 1.50–12.00 mm, feed 0.50–0.90 mm.
